When we realised "On the Road" we were staying for some months on a residence in Seoul. Then, North Korea bombed the South Korean island of Yeongpyeong, near Seoul. That was in November 2010. Our sources of information were confusing, and in the media it was repeatedly said a war could start any minute because that attack went further than the usual political tension between the two countries. “On the road” tries to reproduce that atmosphere of madness and concern about a conflict escalation.
